It's that time again! The 2012 Capitol Woodcarvers Show will be held March 31, 2012 - April 1, 2012 at the Salem Center 50+.

The 2011 show was a great success with more participation than ever before. We anticipate that the 2012 show will be even better. Space is limited so we recommend that you register early.

Please print, complete, and mail in this registration form to reserve your spot in the show (REGISTRATION FORM).

The Oregon woodcarving rendezvous is again schedule for Thursday September 13 thru Sunday September 16 at Canyonview Camp in Silverton. Classes start at noon on Thursday and run thru noon on Sunday. Sessions are 9:00 AM and 1:00 PM.

We have a returning class by the National Fish Carvers. They will be having a two session class on Saturday that will feature the painting of a “California Golden Trout”. The class will paint a casting of a trout (casting cost $10.00). All paints and instruction is included in the class. The class is limited to eight (8) registrants.

By all accounts the 2011 Oregon Woodcarvers Rendezvous was the best ever. Thanks to all the organizers, instructors, and participants for making this year's Rendezvous a great success.

Thanks to all of you that donated ornaments. The Center 50+ sold 89 ornaments and brought in $890.00 for the center!!!!. The club also sold all the remaining ornaments at the Green Show the first weekend in December.

The plan is to again be at the Green Show next December to sell ornaments (why give up on a good thing?). I all ready have several ornaments donated towards 2012!!

Again we will have a drawing for gift certificates. You will get a ticket for each ornament you donate. Please make sure you sign each ornament so we can give you proper credit.

For those interested, the Silverton Silverchip Carvers meet in Silverton on Wednesday afternoons, 1:00-4:00 PM at the Silverton Art Association. Cost is $2.00 per session. A chance to carve and chat. For more information, call Dave Strand (503-873-4512)

Everett Koontz (503-581-8428) is hosting an open carving session on Monday's 9:30-3:00 at his house. Bring a sack lunch and a project to work on.
